Nach 50 Jahren Forschung und zwei grossen Forschungsprogrammen zur Migration in der Schweiz - dem NFP 39 Migration und interkulturelle Beziehungen und dem NCCR on the move - reflektiert dieses Sonderheft die Wissensproduktion in diesem wichtigen Bereich der Soziologie, hauptsächlich in der Schweiz. Welche Art von Forschung wurde von SoziologInnen in diesem Bereich unternommen? Welchen Epistemologien wurde gefolgt? Welchen öffentlichen und politischen Einfluss hat diese Forschung gehabt? Welche Fragen bleiben offen, und in welche Richtung wird sich die Migrationssoziologie in Zukunft entwickeln? Die sieben Beiträge dieses Sonderheftes reflektieren zentrale Fragen der Migrationssoziologie in der Schweiz und Europa. Sie liefern eine wichtige Kritik, sowohl an der Forschung, die dazu neigt, staatliches Denken zu reproduzieren, als auch an der Migrationspolitik, welche in die Souveränität der Nationalstaaten und eine neoliberale Logik eingebettet ist. Sie bieten Einblicke in die Funktionsweise schweizerischer Rechts- und Arbeitsinstitutionen sowie der Schweizerischen Volkspartei. Schliesslich bieten die Beiträge einige Überlegungen, wie die Spannung zwischen dem Protektionismus des Wohlfahrtsstaates und der Globalisierung gelöst werden kann.
Après 50 ans de recherche et deux grands programmes de recherche sur la question des migrations en Suisse - le PNR 39 Migration et relations interculturelles et le PNR on the move - ce numéro spécial propose une réflexion sur la production de connaissances dans cet important domaine de la sociologie, principalement en Suisse. Quel type de recherche a été produit par les sociologues dans ce domaine? Selon quelles épistémologies? Quel impact public et politique ces recherches ont-elles eu ? Quelles sont les questions encore ouvertes et dans quelle direction la sociologie des migrations est-elle susceptible de s'orienter à l'avenir ? Les sept contributions de ce numéro spécial réfléchissent aux questions clés de la sociologie de la migration en Suisse et en Europe. Elles fournissent une critique importante de la recherche qui tend à reproduire la pensée étatique et de la politique migratoire ancrée dans la souveraineté des Etats-nations et une logique néolibérale. Ils donnent également un aperçu du fonctionnement des institutions juridiques et du travail en Suisse, ainsi que du parti politique de l’Union démocratique du Centre. Enfin, ils proposent quelques réflexions sur la manière de résoudre la tension entre le protectionnisme de l'État-providence et la globalisation.
After 50 years of research and two major research programmes on migration in Switzerland – the NRP 39 Migration and Intercultural Relations and the NCCR on the move – this special issue reflects on the knowledge production in this important domain of sociology, mainly in Switzerland. What type of research has been produced by sociologists in this field? According to which epistemologies? What public and political impact has this research had? What open questions remain, and in what direction is the sociology of migration likely to move in the future? The seven contributions of this Special issue reflect on key issues of the sociology of migration in Switzerland and Europe. They provide an important critique on both research which tends to reproduce state thought and migration policy embedded into sovereignty of nation-states and a neoliberal logic. They also provide insights into the functioning of Swiss legal and labour institutions, as well as Swiss People’s Party. Finally they offer some reflections how to solve the tension between protectionism of the welfare state and globalisation.
